Through the photographs, drawings and video on this new site, we hope to communicate some of the breadth and diversity of our work. You will find contemporary interventions alongside maliciously detailed traditional architecture: rigor in the quality in thought and design being consistent throughout.
We would value your feedback and are very open to suggestions as to how to how we could improve it further.
YA Director Andrew Inchley was invited by Country Life to participate in a fascinating panel discussion at Thyme on the future of the Country House. Andrew answered some tricky questions from Giles Kime and the very knowledgeable audience, and we hope that everyone attended was left feeling positive for the future.
Other featured speakers included Emma Sims Hilditch, Tim Moulding and Edward Smith of Artorius Fabar
In April we bid farewell to YA Director Anthony Lewis. Anthony's retirement after 25 years with YA was marked with a surprise drinks reception, Elvis masks and much merriment. His presence will be missed by everyone in the studio, and we wish he and his family the very best for the future.

We are delighted to be awarded The Georgian Group Award for a "New Building in a Georgian Context". Little Durnford Manor, a Grade I house on the River Avon, to the north of Salisbury, is of curious character. Late 17th century in origin, it was remodelled in c.1720-1740 and again in the late 18th century. Its southern and western elevations offer distinctly different interpretations of Palladian architecture, though both are patterned in limestone block and flint chequer work with ashlar surrounds to their windows.
The Yiangou-designed scheme at The Crescent, Thame has just won the Residential Development of the Year Award at the 2024 Thames Valley Property Awards. Set within picturesque parkland in the centre of the market town of Thame, the scheme provides 23 luxury villas for Rectory Homes. Our inspiration for The Crescent was born from the 19th Century architectural preference “Rus in Urbe”, creating rural landscapes within cities.

We are delighted that this scheme, designed by Director Ross Sharpe, was approved this week under the 'Paragraph 79' rules. These rules allow for houses to be built in open countryside only if they meet the standard of 'truly outstanding or innovative design' as well as significantly enhancing the immediate setting. To our knowledge, this is the first non-classical, traditional house to have received such a consent.

We are delighted to learn that Avalon has also been shortlisted for a Georgian Group Award in the "New Building in a Georgian Context" category. The awards recognise buildings which either follow the Georgian tradition, show thoughtful restoration or, as is the case with Avalon, use contemporary architecture to enhance their setting.
To celebrate the Queen's platinum jubilee, John Goodall, Architectural Editor of Country Life, invited six notable architects to submit ideas for improvements to her London residence. Ross Sharpe's scheme "represents a scaling back of height and gravitas, to a form that although civic, has a more interesting rhythm and approachability"

Following on from our recent feature in Country Life, Andrew Inchley was invited to speak on a panel at Decorex. The well-attended session prompted some very interesting questions from the audience about creating buildings that will last for generations. The accompanying feature article in Country Life highlights the work of several companies working to create new houses that will stand the test of time.

We were absolutely delighted to hear that this important new-build country house was the joint winner of a Georgian Group award. This is especially significant, coming so soon after winning the RIBA award for a contemporary project, demonstrating our skills in being able to design quality traditional classical architecture.
